AirPods Pro vs AirPods
Either of Apple’s wireless earbuds are high-quality product that deliver on sound, comfort, and wireless convenience. But the Pro version does outperform the regular earbuds, hence the price differences.
Key ways AirPods Pro are better
- Better sound quality (AirPods Pro have more bass)
- Active noise cancellation. AirPods have a more open design that does not do well in noisy environments. AirPods Pro have a noise-isolating design (in the tips’ seal) that helps cancel out external noises.
- Better a making calls. The AirPods Pro have three microphones on each bud, one of which is a beatforming microphone that’s designed to pick up your voice. These extra microphones, plus better active noise cancellation, makes AirPods Pro better wireless earbuds for making phone calls.
- Water resistance. AirPods Pro have an IPX4 water-resistance rating, making them sweat-resistant and splash-proof. Regular AirPods are not rated for water resistance.
- Spatial audio feature. AirPods Pro have a “spatial audio” feature that mimics or simulates surround sound. This works great when using your AirPods to watch videos or TV.
- Better fit. While there’s no such thing as a pair of earbuds that will perfectly fit everyone’s ears, the AirPods Pro has a design that fits far more people’s ears than the regular AirPods Pro design. AirPods Pro feature three ear tip sizes for a more customized fit vs regular AirPods offering only one universal fit.
- Shorter battery life. AirPods Pro can provide up to 4.5 hours of listening time, on one charge, vs 5 hours of listening time on one charge for regular Apple AirPods.

- Do not swim with your AirPods Pro or otherwise submerge them in water.
