There are many benefits to working from home, from avoiding the morning commute, to flexibility to arrange your days as you see fit. But it may seem like an out-of-reach dream if you don’t know where to look for work-at-home or online jobs you can start right away.

This article will outline some of the best work-from-home jobs you can start right away either full-time or part-time. Some of them will use your specialized skills, while others are available to almost anybody, opening the door to students and stay-at-home moms. However, most will require a solid internet connection because they’re online jobs.

Most jobs start at least $17 per hour if you’re working through an agency or replying to a job ad, but if you’re able to market yourself as a writer or graphic designer, or create a YouTube channel, you could earn into the six-figure range.

One caveat: it might not be best to jump in without any planning. If you’re looking to replace a job you already hold outside the home, start to do your work-from-home job for a while to set your income expectations and save up an emergency fund before you pull the plug. Sometimes a new venture takes a while to pay out, and it may take some time to adjust to routines working from home.

Working from home in remote jobs isn’t for everybody, either. For some people, chit chat at the water cooler is essential to break up the day – working from home can be very isolating.

But for those who are forced to work from home, are looking for a side hustle to make some extra cash, or who are currently stay-at-home parents, here are some of the best ways to make money from home in 2022.

Best Stay at Home Jobs for 2022

Blogger

This job has become more recognized – and more lucrative – over the past number of years, as people realize the potential of having massive audiences without the cost of printing a publication. But it’s not always simple to make money from a blog. There’s a lot of knowledge that goes into learning to write, market, and monetize your publication so that it earns you a paycheck.

That said, you can learn everything you need to know about writing, monetizing, and marketing your blog from myriad online sources. If you’re willing to put in the time to learn, you can have a lucrative side hustle in very little time.

YouTuber

If you have a live-out-loud personality and don’t mind putting yourself out there, you can earn money by making videos of your life and posting them on YouTube. As with blogging, you’ll need to learn how to capture and retain an audience, and how to capitalize on your views when you receive them. There are also numerous resources online to help you do that.

Tutoring

You can advertise your expertise on your own social media networks or sign up with a company to share your knowledge, even without a teaching or bachelor’s degree. You can tutor virtually from the comfort of your home if you have a solid understanding of learning outcomes and a reliably fast internet connection. Set up your own learning materials and worksheets, or connect with a company like VIPKID to teach English to international students.

Chat Agent

You can apply to be a customer service representative through your computer. Many companies have outfitted their websites to offer live chat to answer any questions or queries, so the demand for people to respond to chat requests is high. Apply through a chat agency like CrowdChat or digital marketing company like LiveWorld to get a job chatting online!

Proofreader

Got grammar skills and a keen eye for detail? You can market your skills as a proofreader to students using your own social media channels, or apply to be a proofreader or editor through an online agency. Proofreading projects could range from blog posts to longer format projects like books and guides.

Bookkeeper

Businesses have a ton of paperwork to keep up with and often don’t have the personnel to get the job done. They love to farm out the bookkeeping work to a willing third party who is careful and meticulous, and who can keep everything straight for them. There are bookkeeping credentials you can earn to give yourself some clout. Market yourself or look for online job postings on sites like Indeed or Upwork.

Freelance Writer

If you have a way with words, you can write from home and earn a pretty decent living. What you write is up to you: there are publications and blogs that need a steady stream of content, and businesses are always looking to offload some of their content marketing to freelancers.

Matchmaker

You can start your own matchmaker business, or get your feet wet working with an agency like Tawkify. Learn what matchmakers do to learn what singles are looking for in a mate, then search through profiles to find a great match for each!

Transcriber

Transcribers take audio files and turn them into written documents. If you’re fast and accurate, you can earn by just typing out what you hear! Transcriptionists can apply through agencies like TranscribeMe!  Another option is becoming a scopist who edits court transcripts for court reporters. You can learn to be a scopist through online courses that teach you how to understand stenography and build a business as a scopist.

Graphic Designer

If you have an artistic flair and some nice graphic software you can create logos, info sheets, and brochures for businesses as a graphic designer. Do a few jobs for friends or family and build a portfolio you can use to market your skills. There are college courses to train you up but you can become a graphic designer without a degree too.

What Job is Best for You to Earn from Home in 2022?

Whatever you decide to do working from home, make sure to give yourself time to reach your desired earning capacity. Learning a new gig takes time, and marketing your skills rarely has an overnight return. But, given time, patience, and perseverance, you can escape the rat race while building the life you want.
